What does yoga teacher insurance cover?
Public Liability cover against third party injury or property damage: Even with the most meticulous planning and preparation, injury is a genuine risk when teaching yoga. During one of your sessions, if you were to teach a yoga pose which causes injury to a participant, they could claim compensation from you.
This is why yoga instructors need Public Liability, which covers your legal liability for third party injury and property damage. Most venues you teach in will ask for proof that you have Public Liability before allowing you to hold sessions.
- Insure4Sport offers up to £10 million Public Liability cover.
- When you choose Public Liability you also receive up to £1 million Professional Indemnity cover, if someone from your class injures themselves after one of your sessions, following advice you’ve given.
Personal Accident cover if you require treatment: The balance, strength and agility required to perfect yoga exercises means there’s always the possibility of sustaining an injury.
If this happens, you need Personal Accident cover, which compensates you if admitted to hospital or require physiotherapy for your injuries. Personal Accident cover also provides a benefit for accidental death, broken bones and permanent disablement.
- With Insure4Sport, you can get from £10,000 to £50,000 Personal Accident cover.
- On top of our Personal Accident cover, we also offer Loss of Earnings cover up to £750 a week for up to 52 weeks, meaning you’ll be financially supported if you’re out of action.
Compensation for equipment repairs and replacements: All manner of things can happen to your equipment, leaving you unable to teach if you don’t have specialist yoga instructor insurance.
The sound system and speakers you use to stream songs during classes could be stolen or lost. What’s more, you could damage your sound system by dropping it, or it could suffer an electrical fault and stop working. Thankfully, these scenarios are covered by our yoga insurance.
- Our Equipment cover protects you against loss, theft or damage of your equipment – whether at home, at work or whilst in use.
- We’ll cover the replacement of your insured equipment on a New-for-Old basis, provided it’s less than a year old and was purchased new, and will pay for repairs up to the limit stated in Your Insurance Schedule.
